Paid membership roles on new apps

Newer generated apps can add a paid role (usually Pro Member) when you describe a paid membership. Paying grants it. Canceling removes it.

If you describe a paid membership when you generate a new app, OverSkill can set up a paid role for you — usually named Pro Member.

This only applies to newer generated apps. Apps you already built keep the roles they have. Generate a new app (or generate again) if you want this behavior.

What you get

On a new app whose prompt sounds like a paid club, course, or membership:

  • Admin and Member as usual
  • One paid role (often Pro Member) for people who buy
  • Your paid plans (monthly, annual, or whatever you named them) point at that paid role

A grocery list or a personal tracker does not grow a paid role until you actually add a paid plan.

What happens when someone pays

When a customer completes checkout for a paid plan, they get the paid role. You'll see them on Users with that role, and your paid plans stay mapped to it.

If they cancel, that paid role is removed. They typically stay a regular member (or whatever other roles they already had). Admin is unchanged.

One paid role

Don't invent a second paid role for the same membership. If the builder already created Pro Member, map new paid plans to it instead of adding another VIP or Premium role that means the same thing.

If a plan is pointing at the wrong role, ask the builder to attach it to the paid role.

Locking features

You can ask the builder to hide pages or features from anyone who isn't on the paid role. Describe the outcome in chat:

Only Pro Members can open the lounge schedule. Everyone else sees the upgrade page.
